Tower open days: Insurance advice
From the Central Council
Greetings all,
Recent queries from some Associations / towers organising open days has prompted a series of discussions between the CCCBR Tower Stewardship Committee and Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. The aim has been to arrive at some commonsense advice regarding insurance and Health & Safety considerations. The outcome of these discussions is an advice note that is now jointly endorsed by Ecclesiastical and CCCBR. As the vast majority of UK churches are insured through Ecclesiastical, we feel it is worthwhile to publish this advice through the “Societies” mailing list maintained by CCCBR – the text of the advice can be found here.
The Tower Stewardship Committee was formed in 2006 in order to give guidance in the general areas of tower management within the wider community recognising Church and Common Law. A key element of our work involves advising on questions of insurance - our annual liaison and review meetings with Ecclesiastical are invaluable in this regard.
We hope that open day organisers find this information helpful.
