It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Dennis Whent of Shrub End, Colchester, who passed away yesterday, 8th December, aged 83. Dennis was the only person to have rung at Shrub End continuously since the installation of the bells in 1962 and for many years was the mainstay of ringing at this tower.

He will be missed for his sense of humour, his ringing and his care and concern for others.
