All The Bells - 21st July and 27th July 2012
Although EACR has felt this concept is difficult to support on a large scale, and has said so publicly to the organisers, CCCBR and our own Association, we were approached by BBC Essex Radio and asked if they could record a rehearsal of the 3 minute ringing at an Essex tower. EACR did not wish to turn down the opportunity of promoting ringing, so we agreed to specially arrange this rehearsal which took place this morning at Little Baddow. Please accept our apologise for not notifying Members any earlier, but it has been extremely difficult to arrange, with confirmation only received late on Friday afternoon that everything was in place to proceed. The rehearsal and subsequent interview will be broadcast on Ian Wyatt's breakfast show between 6.00-10.00am tomorrow, with our particular article scheduled to air at 7.40am and repeated again at 9.40am. The programme is here if you would like to tune in, and once we have the 'Listen Again' link we will upload that as well. The recording will be available to hear for a 10 day period.
You can also see attached some guidance notes which were sent to BBC Essex Radio which we felt accurately reflected the challenges the whole concept represents to the change ringing community, but also managed to put some thoughtful perspective on it. As a result of receiving our guidance notes, BBC Essex Radio were very sympathetic to the obstacles that we face in complying with Martin Creed's proposal which is a good thing. I hope you will all agree that we want to be perceived as a friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and committed group of people who serve our parishes with dedication. We will always try our best to make things happen that show the exercise and EACR and its members in a positive light. Please feel free to use the guidance notes if you are thinking of trying to ring next week and if you do decide to ring next Friday, do let us know.
