Following the previous communication from Revd Julia Baldwin, please see below further details of the funeral arrangements for Charlotte Parsons.  

Charlotte's funeral will take place at 12noon on Thursday, 9th January 2025 at St Mary the Virgin, Matching CM17 0QZ followed by her burial at St Mary Magdalen, Magdalen Laver CM5 0EG with a wake at the village hall in Magdalen Laver.  All are welcome to attend.

Thank you to those who have enquired about ringing for the funeral.  Following discussions with the band at Matching, ringing will take place as follows:

10.30am - Quarter peal attempt by the Advanced 6 Bell group

11.30am - Service ringing by the Matching band

After the service, a single bell will be tolled by a member of the Matching band.  There will then be general ringing for around 30 to 45 minutes. 

Also, the catering for the wake is being organised by volunteers at the church.  They would welcome contributions of home-made dishes.  If you would like to contribute, would you please also let Vicky know.

David Parsons contacted Liz Griffith-Jones and asked if fellow ringers and friends could give a floral tribute in the shape of a bell. Liz is happy to look after the ordering and paying. 

Alternatively, contributions can be confirmed and paid to Liz when they see her.  Any surplus funds will be donated to a charity of the family’s choice. The cost is expected to be £150-200.  Liz has spoken to florists in Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Walden but if anyone has any recommendations, please let Liz know on lizgj@aol.com
